Conference for Public Relations Professionals to be held at Lipscomb University; Global Leader Tom Glover of Johnson & Johnson to Keynote


PR+ 2016 Conference focused on the Next Wave of Game Changers in Public Relations Attracts Professionals and Students from across the region




Nashville, TN – (February 22, 2016) – The Lipscomb University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is pleased to announce the annual one-day conference for communication professionals and students on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in the Ezell Center at Lipscomb University from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in partnership with the Nashville chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Tom Glover, Stakeholder Engagement Leader and Global Leader Supply Chain Communication for Johnson & Johnson has been invited as the keynote speaker. 


The PR+ 2016 Conference is a one-day professional development and networking conference featuring interactive conversations led by respected local leaders and nationally emerging speakers to share ideas, address issues and rethink trends that affect our multifaceted industry in Nashville and beyond. The theme of PR+ 2016 is ‘The Next Wave of Game Changers: Ideas & Influencers Transforming the Public Relations Profession.’ Panel topics include ‘Digital Influence as a Strategic Priority’ and ‘Perfecting the Audience-Centered Approach through Diversity and Innovation.’


The first PR+ Conference in 2014 drew nearly 100 attendees and welcomed Steve Buchanan, president of the Opry Entertainment Group and co-creator/executive producer of ABC's hit television show “Nashville” as keynote speaker. 


“With the success of 2014, we wanted to return with an agenda that presents a view of the most challenging and stimulating discussion about the future direction of the public relations industry. Our conference will offer an unrivalled opportunity to explore how both new and seasoned professionals can capitalize on innovative ways of communicating while facing a real-time evolution and fast-paced cultural change,” said Aerial Ellis, PRSSA advisor and public relations instructor in the Lipscomb University Department of Communication and Journalism.


Keynote speaker for this year’s conference, Tom Glover, is Stakeholder Engagement Leader and Global Leader Supply Chain Communication for Johnson & Johnson. This three-sector health care company based in New Brunswick, New Jersey, provides the world’s largest range of healthcare products for families and doctors alike. Johnson & Johnson fulfills our communities globally through three specific areas of focus: saving and improving the lives of women and children, preventing disease among the most vulnerable and strengthening the health workforce.


In his role at Johnson & Johnson, Tom is responsible for their Global Communications Centers of Excellence-Media Relations, Strategic Insights & Analytics, Workforce Communications, Public Affairs & Policy Communications and Global Events Management, to build capability, and share best practice and expertise in collaboration with business-based communicators to engage and build trust with multiple stakeholder groups to enhance Johnson & Johnson’s global reputation. Tom earned a MBA from Wake Forest University and a Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of Tennessee.

Registration for this event is available at The cost for students to attend is $25; PRSA Members, $45; Non-Members, $50 prior to March 12. The cost for registration after March 12 is $35 for students and $65 for professionals until April 14.
